JAKE BARONE
FOUNDER - CEO
Jake Barone founded Gateway Builders + Developers in 2015 and scaled the company to a multi-million-dollar boutique construction management and development firm within the first year. Under Jake’s leadership, Gateway has gone on to successfully complete 60+ large scale projects, along with dozens of small interior renovations throughout New York City. Jake is passionate about adding value to his clients and partnerships and this has led to a wide expansion of services beyond what most builders are willing or able to provide. Jake’s vision has built a successful business that promises exceptional quality, great service, and the flexibility needed to tackle any project.
HOWARD SCHLESINGER
AIA - COO
Howard Schlesinger is a registered architect and developer. He has extensive experience in the arenas of property development and renovation. Howard’s expertise includes state-of-the-art renovations, building upgrades and the redevelopment of underutilized properties for commercial and residential use. Howard previously founded an architectural firm with a particular focus on corporate interiors and redevelopment and the restoration of historic structures. He continues to be involved in community efforts, serving as a board member of Housing and Services, Inc., a non-profit organization committed to providing supportive housing for people experiencing homelessness. Howard has a keen eye for detail and design and his experience adds value to projects big and small.
Ozgur Laopanich
SAFETY OFFICER - SUPERINTENDENT
Ozgur Laopanich has a hand in each aspect and phase of project management, ensuring the efficient and successful completion of all projects. He is a trusted partner from the very beginning phases, assisting in the planning and developing, crafting and managing budgets and timetables, and coordinating communication and schedules with vendors. Ozgur is solutions-oriented and works diligently to meet the needs of clients and manage all aspects of complex projects. He is a dependable leader with experience managing teams and executing projects.
MARY GEORGE
CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER - DESIGNER - LEED GREEN ASSOCIATE - ASSOC. AIA
Mary is an architect and designer who leads the charge in Gateway’s construction management efforts. She manages the building process with precision, ensuring all projects follow a predictable timetable and remain on budget. Mary has a unique ability to see the big picture and also focus on key details throughout the planning and build-out phases. Years of experience in the field have equipped Mary to lead teams toward successful completion of exceptional projects.
VEJAI DEBYDEEN
CONTROLER
Vejai is an integral part of GBD and is the backbone of the company's finances. He draws on his extensive finance experience in the construction industry providing oversights for the company's accounting operation. He has extensive experience working with various general contractors.
